According to some newspapers Tiago Monteiro is as close as ever to enter Jordan’s F1 team.
The fact that Midland Group bought Jordan (which was in a very tricky finatial situation) allowed the team to sign pilots based on what they are worth driving instead of what they are worth in money.
Tiago Monteiro is known to be highly apreciated by Midland’s boss Trevor Carlin after a successfull season at Midland’s World Series by Nissan team.
ITV: Monteiro to Jordan?
There has been no confirmation of a deal from Jordan, but the Portuguese media are building themselves up into a frenzy at the prospect of their first F1 driver since Pedro Lamy a decade ago.
Like Karthikeyan, Monteiro has close links with Trevor Carlin, sporting director of the Midland Group that recently bought Jordan, having driven for him in the 2004 World Series by Nissan. He amassed five victories and finished as runner-up to champion (and ITV-F1 columnist) Heikki Kovalainen.
Update: Record seems to confirm the deal.

The European / South American (Toyota Cup) is ours.
After 120 minutes, where we only saw F.C. Porto trying to win the game and Once Caldas desperate to get to the penalty kicks (as their golakeeper was a supposed penaltyt kick expert) the final result served justice well.
During the game F.C. Porto saw two goals disalowed for pretense offside (the second one clearly wasn’t) and four balls hitting the posts and the crossbar.
In the end the best team won and all is well!
Seventeen years later F.C. Porto is once again crowned the best team of the world.

Or so it seems. After my rant about how he didn’t use the Porto players in the national team squad he decided (after dozens of bad friendly games) it was time to give them a chance.
The result was a undisputed victory against Russia by 2-0. The same team that had given Spain so much trouble some days ago.

Portugal is in the verge of throwing away the biggest chance they will ever have of winning the UEFA European Championship.
We have a club that won the UEFA Cup and the Champions League in two consecutive years using 9 Portuguese Players in their first squad. A team that can play together with their eyes closed. Still only 6 have been called for Euro 2004 and only 2 were in the initial line-up against Greece.
We are playing home and the Portuguese crowd has proven to be enthusiastic and supportive. Yet we managed to lose our first game against a theroetically weaker team.
In the end it won’t be hard to find out what went wrong.
Well, we can only hope things get better in the next 2 games. *sigh*

uefa.com: Dmitri Alenichev shot over when well-placed on 68 minutes, but United were beginning to threaten on the break as Porto chased the game. The closing stages were largely played out in the United half, but just as it looked like the English champions had held their nerve, Costinha struck.

Eurosport - Rally Raid “It will probably sink in a couple of days that I am World Champion,” said Sousa, the FIA Champion “But this has been a team effort and I thank Mitsubishi and my mechanics. The driver is only the face at the front of the team. I owe special credit to my mechanics, because they worked through the night in Turkey and Argentina on my car. This rally here was the most difficult round of the championship without doubt.”
