film is so bad I don’t even wann lose time writing about it. So
here’s

view about it:
Don’t … Watch … Sangre Eterna. Utter and complete
crap! Classical vampire-on-actuality theme, with a lame plot
involving high-school kids playing AD&D(1) and finding a cult
of real vampires. Special FXs look like Peter Jackson’s Bad Taste,
except that Bad Taste is hilarious where Sangre Eterna is
supposedly a terror flick. The end of the movie is guessable 30
minutes from the end, and the generic plot is guessable 15 minutes
into the movie.

href="http://blog.portugalmail.pt/NuLo/">Nuno said this is a
movie that would be excelent if it was a short movie, but it isn’t
and sometimes it manages to be a very dull movie (or maybe I was
just sleepy as hell).
Nevertheless the film has some nice ideas like luck being part of
each person,something that you can lose and something that you can
bet on. Not the usual lucky people betting on stuff, but other
people betting on the lucky people’s luck.
By the way this movie ended up winning this Fantasporto edition
which was a little disappointing looking at
href="http://www.andrerestivo.com/weblog/archives/001839.html">other
years winners.

Bug
(2002): Perhaps the most original film I watched this year at
href="http://www.andrerestivo.com/weblog/archives/001815.html">Fantasporto.
The film revolves around the fact that all actions will have a
consequence, or even better, all consequences had a
previous action, or something like that.

The first thought I had after watching the movie was: How in
the hell will I explain what this film is about in my blog?. I
guess the best way will be with an example:
Did you ever think about the consequence of not giving a tip to a
waiter, that will go shopping after he leaves the restaurant and
that won’t have enough money to buy food for his baby, making him
cry all night, leading to his neighbour deciding she doesn’t want
to have kids, making her husband argue with her and getting a
divorce? All because you didn’t tip the waiter! And why didn’t you
tip the waiter? Probably you’ll be able to find a sequence of
events that led to that situation too.
Bottom line: Original and entertaining.

(2002): What if Japan had won the war, what if Germany had been
nuked instead of Japan and Korea was still part of Japan’s empire.
This is a very violent movie with lots of action and with an
important historical side to it all.
This was the third Korean film I have seen in this Fantas and I
must say I’m impressed with the overall quality of Korean films.
Last year I already saw
href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0255589">Seon (The Isle),
another Korean movie, that besides being a shock movie had also one
of the best photographies I have ever seen.

High): The synopsis of this movie described it as being a
href="http://www.manga.com/">Manga movie but with real
characters (as oposed to cartoons). The typical ingredients of a
manga were all there: Martial Arts, Super Powers, Korny
Humour, Stupid Plot …
The movie was also refered as been similar to
href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0133093">The Matrix and in fact
the special efects were indeed identical (even a little detail on
Matrix where Morpheus invites Neo to attack him with a little twist
of hishand is there).
All in all fun movie to see if you are in the mood for some easy
laughs, but a little too dense for me.

Being a regular at this festival since 1993 I can vouch for all the
winners since that year. Not your average Oscar winners but all of
them great movies.
