We can code that in a weekend

And here I go to a famous André’s ‘I’ll code that in a
weekend’
session. I could explain what the hell I’m talking
about, but I wont :-P

Knoppix

Murphy never attacks one thing at a time. So besides wrecking our
blogging system it also decided to send my laptop AC adapter to
that big power outlet in the sky.

So I’m stuck with my old desktop that only has windows installed
until Monday.

Instead of installing a new Linux distribution just for the
weekend, I decided to try out href="http://www.knoppix.de/">Knoppix. Knoppix is a CD based
Linux distribution and is known to have one of the best hardware
detection systems of all operating systems.

So I burned a CD with Knoppix 3.2, brought it home, popped it into
my desktop and one minute later I had linux running, with
everything auto-detected: My href="http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=36&prid=427">
Wireless Network Card, my href="http://www.mustek.com/html/prod_camra/gsmartmini2.html">digital
camera, my graphics card,
my tv/radio card, my href="http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprProductDetail.jsp?modelid=6611&item=6652&section=10213">
printer, …

Bottomline: A Knoppix CD and 512MB USB Flash Drive is all you need
for mobile computing. I only miss that it doesn’t bring href="http://www.eclipse.org/">Eclipse installed.
