Javascript popup images

If there is something I dislike about recent websites trends its
the proliferation of links to images (and sometimes webpages) that
instead of linking to the actual thing try to open a popup window
using javascript.

It might seem a good idea and all but I see two major problems with
that:

  • Not everyone has javascript enabled or even a javascript
    enabled browser.
  • I overuse Mozilla’s open in a new tab with the middle
    button
    feature and its just plainly annoying to click on a
    bunch of screenshots just to notice that I only oppened several new
    empty tabs.

Ok, I said it. Rant off.
