Weblogs.com Improvements

I don’t understand exactly what’s the point of the main page of href="http://www.weblogs.com/">weblogs.com.

Perhaps a long time ago, when only a few weblogs existed, it
served some purpose but with the increasing amount of blogs I think
it would benefict from some tweaking.

Don’t get me wrong, weblogs.com is a great service and we need a
central point that knows which blogs were updated recently. But at
this moment only some scripts like the one use by href="http://www.blogrolling.com/">blogrolling take advantage
from the service.

In order to improve the service I propose the following changes
in the ping message format:

  • Add the type of blog being updated
    (personal/technical/…)
  • Add the type of post (personal/technical/…)
  • Maybe add the title of the new post

This would enable the common mortal user to skim through the home
page and find interesting updated blogs. It would also allow some
filtering of the recently updated list.

Klingon Programmer

Top 20 things likely to be overheard if you had a Klingon
Programmer. My favourite:

Klingon function calls do not have ‘parameters’ - they
have ‘arguments’ — and they ALWAYS WIN THEM.

Columbia thoughts

Dave Winer’s post about
the Columbia Disaster sumarizes pretty well my thoughts about it.
