UT2003 Ships with Linux Support

Infogrames just href="http://www.ina-community.com/forums/announcement.php?s=1edfbcc393eee0bb8595bb5498c3c7cb&forumid=214">
announced that their new Unreal Tournament 2003 game is about
to ship and will have Linux Support out of the box. This seems to
be a great opportunity for Linux Gamers to show that giving Linux
support can increase the sale rate of computer games. Too bad they
don’t have separate boxes for people using Linux and Windows. I
just hope we can see the ratio between people using each one of
these Operating Systems in the game servers statistics pages.

The Linux-Wlan Project

Some time ago I felt the need of installing a wireless network.
After some research I decided to go for a href="http://www.linksys.com/">Linksys solution. I chosed it
because it was a cheap solution and Linksys seemed to have good
support, with frequent drivers and firmware upgrades.

Before buying the system I investigated if there was any Linux
support available. That was when I found out about the Linux-Wlan
project. This project is maintaned by Absolute Value Systems
and in their website you can read the following:

AbsoluteValue Systems is an avid supporter of the GNU/Linux
operating system , Free Software, and Open Source Software. This
page contains information about an ongoing AVS project to
contribute 802.11 wireless LAN (WLAN) support for the GNU/Linux
operating system and other Open Source platforms.

After reading the FAQ I found out they didn’t just support my
wireless card but all the wireless cards using the href="http://www.intersil.com/design/prism/ser-pii-11mbps.asp">Prism2
chip set. At first I thought it was to good to be true but decided
to give it a shot anyway.
